Portland Yogafest: Yoga—“Bridge to Peace and a World of Possibility”
6:30–7:00 p.m. Also broadcast live (Facebook account may be required, but probably not). Part of the International Day of Yoga and Solstice Celebration, from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Celebrate the United Nations–declared International Day of Yoga and the arrival of the summer solstice with an all-day festival at Pioneer Courthouse Square in the heart of downtown Portland.
Free and family friendly. Come for an hour or stay for the day.
7–9 p.m. Cost: $20 ($15 for seniors, youth, and students). Tickets can be purchased here or (if still available) at the door. Also broadcast live (Facebook account may be required, but probably not). Jyotish and Devi are the keynote speakers; the other speakers are Puru (Joseph) Selbie and Dana Lynne Andersen. Emissaries from diverse religious traditions will open the evening, leading an experiential ceremony for World Peace. Location: Portland State University, Lincoln Hall.
Together, the speakers bring together the scientific, the creative, and the spiritual, showing how uplifting consciousness is the bridge to peace.
Raising consciousness is the real solution to the troubles in the world today. World peace, harmony with the environment, creativity—all stem from uplifted awareness of ourselves and the world around us. The powerful teachings of yoga hold the key to personal and global upliftment, harmony, peace, and well-being.
June 23 (Saturday) - Ananda Laurelwood -
Open House: Dedication Ceremony (also broadcast live)
3–6 p.m.: Dedication ceremony, unveiling the eight-foot bronze statue of Paramhansa Yogananda in the Yogananda Gardens. Also broadcast live (Facebook account may be required, but probably not). Jyotish and Devi will preside, along with representatives from diverse spiritual traditions. Jyotish and Devi will offer the opening prayer and a brief introduction. At roughly 4:35 they’ll speak for a few minutes about Master’s vision of world brotherhood colonies.
Join us for a beautiful dedication with short talks, music, dance, and a ceremony of blessing.
Part of an all-day program, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., at Ananda Laurelwood: “Discover Our Intentional Community, Retreat Center, and ‘Campus of Higher Consciousness.’”

The service is just one part of a full schedule of Sunday events, the second day of the Gala Weekend at Ananda Laurelwood.
This is the closing event of the “East Meets West Fest: United Hearts and Minds,” from 2–8 p.m. The whole day is free of charge, and includes an afternoon of programs and workshops. 6–8 p.m. Jyotish and Devi are keynote speakers, together with Rabbi Ted Falcon, Imam Jamal Rahman, Rev. Michael Ingersoll, and author Philip Goldberg. This inspiring evening will include a yoga demonstration, meditation, music, and more.
