Ananda is a global movement based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, who showed how everyone can realize God in their daily lives as a tangible, loving reality. It was founded in 1968 by Yogananda’s direct disciple, Swami Kriyananda. Nayaswamis Jyotish and Devi are the current spiritual directors.
Ananda has two basic principles:
1. Where there is right action (dharma) there is victory.
2. People are more important than things.
At Ananda we work to expand our sense of harmony and gain an increased sense of God’s loving presence in our life through ancient and effective techniques including meditation, Kriya Yoga, spiritually-oriented Hatha Yoga, community, and divine friendship.
One of Ananda’s main focuses has been the creation of World Brotherhood colonies for people and families from all walks of life who are dedicated to simple living and high thinking. For more information on these, please visit our communities page.
